William J. Bohanan, Sr.

William J. Bohanan, Sr., 49, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, NY, after becoming ill at home.

Bill was born in Cortland, NY on February 10, 1963, a son of Ora William and Betty Jane George Bohanan. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of the Trailhounds Snowmobile Club. He was formerly employed as a maintenance supervisor at the YWCA, Cortland. A loving son, father, grandfather, and brother, he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his mother, Betty Jane George Davis, he is survived by his wife, Penney Bohanan; and his children, Tanya (Jason) Feringa, William (Keli Lieber) Bohanan, Justin Bohanan, Cynthia Bohanan, and Skye Bohanan. He also leaves behind his brothers, Glenn (Maria) Bohanan, Gary Bohanan, and Jim (Gina) Bohanan; his sisters, Elizabeth (Morris) Reagan and Verna (Jack) Patterson; three grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Ora William Bohanan, and a brother, Franklin Bohanan.

Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Thursday, July 5, 2012, at 12:00 noon, with Rev. Peter Bush officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service at 12:00 noon. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Bill may be directed to the family to help defray expenses.
