Wesley “Uncle Chubs” Layton Lewis, 78, of Marathon, NY, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017, at Crown Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Cortland, NY.
Born in Sanford, NY, on July 19, 1939, Wes was the son of the late Carlton and Florence Slater Lewis. Wes proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1956 to 1958.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linnie Mae (Clark) Lewis; and sons, Steven, Dale, Daniel, Carl and Roy Lewis; grandchildren, Wesley, Steven, Lance, Kevin, Daniel, Natasha, Bridgette, Hunter, Colton, Austin, Olivia, and Faith; and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters, Caryl Sudbrink, Florence Coe, Wanda Gonzales, Susan Baier, and Joanne Himko; brothers, Harold Lewis and Gary Lewis; countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Wes will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. He was known as the man who was always there when you needed him.
A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at the Willet Cemetery on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at 11:00 a.m.
