Virginia “Ginny” (Morse) Mott, 63, of McGraw, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 5, 2020, at the Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY.
Ginny was born in Cortland, NY, on September 15, 1956, the daughter of the late William and Janet Gorman Morse. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a communicant to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Cortland. She retired from Cornell University in 2018 after several years of service. Prior to that she had been employed at SUNY Cortland. After her retirement, she served as the Freeville Village Clerk. She was a member of the Solon Sportsman Club, the McGraw Recreation Department, and a former member of the McGraw School Board.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, James Mott; and her children, Tim (Christine) Mott of Cincinnatus and Christy Mott of St. Petersburg, FL. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Allie and Riley Mott; brothers, William “Billy” (Joyce Burk) Morse and John (Sheila) Morse all of Cortland; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Sheila Peak, on February 17, 2020.
The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Friday, June 12, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
