Violet S. Tracey, 100, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY.
Violet was born in the Town of Taylor on April 16, 1924, the daughter of the late Walter and Minnie Monroe Smith. A lifelong resident, she was a 1941 graduate from Cincinnatus Central School and a member of the First Baptist Church of Cincinnatus where she was involved with the church ministry. She taught Sunday School and Junior Church and held Eager Beaver and Lord’s Lambs classes. She had also served as an assistant teacher for the Cincinnatus Christian Academy for eight years. She retired from Gladding Corporation after several years of service.
She is survived by her children, Delores Rose of McGraw, Dorothy Tracy of Cortland, Diane Brown of Cortland, Roger Wayne (Jackie) Tracey of Yuma, AZ, Larry (Wilma) Tracey of Guilford, and Wendell Tracey of Cincinnatus. She also leaves behind her sister, Metta Diaz of Cincinnatus; 22 grandchildren; 50 plus great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Roger Tracey, on November 2, 2002; a sister, Ruth Diaz; and brothers, Robert Louis and Lloyd Smith.
Graveside services for Violet will be held at the Lower Cincinnatus Cemetery on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 12:00 noon with her pastor, Reverend Mark Brown officiating. There will be no prior calling hours or funeral service. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Violet may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Cincinnatus, 2608 Baptist Avenue, Cincinnatus, NY 13040.
