Victor Edward DeCurtis

Victor E. DeCurtis, 69, of Pitcher, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at the Syracuse VA Hospital, Syracuse, NY.

Mr. DeCurtis was born in New York, NY on May 7, 1945, the son of the late Edward and Theresa DeCurtis.  At the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he proudly served 15 years, three tours, from 1962 to 1977 during the Vietnam Era Conflict.  During his time in the military, he received numerous awards and citations, including the Medal of Heroism for saving lifes during a major flood while on tour in Vietnam, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnamese Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, the Meritorious Mast and the Marine Corps Medal.  He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the VFW.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Bruna DeCurtis; his daughters, Kelly (Brent Cottrell) DeCurtis of Champaign, IL, Susan (Andrew) Warsaw of Coram, NY and Susanne Pohle of W. Seneca, NY; and his stepdaughter, Lisa (William) Colloca of W. Babylon,  NY.  He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Derek, Marisa, Ava, and Billy; his brothers, Joseph (Adrienne) Dicembri of Valley Cottage, NY, Edward (Jennifer) DeCurtis of Dallas, TX, and Peter DeCurtis of Astoria, NY; his sisters, Julianne (Thomas) Melloni of Burlington, VT, and Denise DeCurtis of New York, NY; the mother-of-his-children, Margareta DeCurtis of Champaign, IL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Gregory and William DeCurtis; and a sister, Dorothy DeCurtis.

Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. with Reverend Douglas Cunningham officiating.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 6:00 p.m.
