Thomas N. Jordan, 79, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center.
Tom was born in Taylor, NY on November 27, 1930, a son of the late Lynott and Ellen Pomerton Jordan. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a long-time member of the Cincinnatus Fire Department. He retired from Brewer-Tichnor in 1995 where he had worked for 28 years. Prior to that, he was employed at both Thompson Boat and Chris Craft Boat for several years. In his spare time, he would travel about the area playing cards with his many friends. He was also an avid golfer and bowler and would often bowl at Court Lanes on many Friday nights. A devoted father, grandfather, and friend, Tom would do anything he could to help out his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Lyn (Mary) Jordan of DeRuyter, Terry Jordan of Cincinnatus, JoAnne (Edward) Pforter of DeRuyter, and Christopher (Tina) Jordan of Cuyler. He also leaves behind a sister, Eva Kendrick of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tom was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Ramona Jordan, on February 3, 2001, as well as several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY with Fred M.S. Downs officiating. Burial will be in Truxton Rural Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Tom may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
