Thomas "Duke" L. Rice, Sr.

Thomas “Duke” L. Rice, Sr., 61, of Georgetown, NY, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017, at his home.

Duke was born in Cortland, NY, on June 3, 1956, a son of the late Thomas and Madlien Bush Rice.  A longtime resident of the area, he worked on several area farms.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Deborah Mead Rice; and his children, Jason (Marcie) Rice of Blodgett Mills, Jeremy (Kate Bassett) Rice of Cuyler, Teresa (Mike) Allen of DeRuyter, Thomas (Brandi Henry) Rice of DeRuyter, and Curtis (Ashley Casler) Rice of Georgetown.  He also leaves behind nine grandchildren; brothers, James (Judy) Rice of Cincinnatus, and Ike (Jackie) Rice of DeRuyter; sisters, Janice (Steve) Breed of Cuyler, Darlene (Arthur) Brown of DeRuyter, Claudia (Kevin) Barrow of Homer, and Kellie (Christopher) Bush of Cuyler; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no immediate funeral services.  A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the family home located 2552 State Highway 26, Georgetown, NY.
