Thomas A. Accardi, Sr.

Thomas A. Accardi, Sr., 81, of Willet, NY, passed away at his home on Friday, May 3, 2024, while surrounded by his family.

Tom was born in Brooklyn, NY, on April 11, 1943, the son of the late Benjamin and Josephine Baglino Accardi.  Tom moved from Yaphank, LI, NY, in 1992 to the Willet area after he retired from Dawn House Movers in 1991.  He had proudly served as a volunteer firefighter for the Yaphank Volunteer Fire Department for several years. In his retirement, he worked as a delivery person for his wife’s flower shop, Rita Mae’s Flowers, in Willet.  Tom loved his animals and enjoyed attending events held by the Tractors of Yesteryears.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Rita Mae Ashton Accardi; and his children, Thomas (Lori) Accardi, Jr. of Yaphank, LI, NY, and Tina (Mark) Curley of Rocky Point, LI, NY.  He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Heather (T.J.) Kearney, Travis (Raquel) Accardi, and Kayla Accardi, all of Yaphank, LI, NY, Jimmy Curley, Eddie Curley, and Danny Curley, all of Rocky Point, LI, NY, and Gabriella Guerrieri of Shirley, LI, NY; his great-grandchildren, Timmy and Kaylee Kearney, and Hunter and Autumn Accardi; a brother Bernard (Diane King) Accardi of Medford, LI, NY; a daughter-in-law, Audrey Guerrieri of Shirley, LI, NY; sisters-in-law, Diane Accardi of Yaphank, LI, NY, and Donna Accardi of Pitcher; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Vincent Guerrieri; and brothers, James, Patrick, and Joseph Accardi.

The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will be in Willet Cemetery.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Tom may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
