Theodore E. Kemak, Sr., 73, of Willet, NY, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Ted was born in Lincklaen, NY on December 2, 1935, a son of the late Steve and Lena Engi Kemak. A longtime resident of this area, he was a dairy farmer for the greatest share of his life. He also worked as Highway Superintendent for the Town of Willet for 15 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Suzanne Quinn Kemak, and his children, Marie (Harry) Edwards, Bonnie (Terry) Hart, Ted, Jr. (Erika) Kemak, Robert Kemak, JoAnne Rider, Charles (Vickie) Kemak, Dennis (Shelly) Kemak, Rose Quinlan, Stephen (Mary) Kemak, and Mary Kemak. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Bethany (Andrew) Wheler, Corey Edwards, Shawn and Shannon Hart, Matt (Jen) Kemak, Ted, III (Tiffany) Kemak, Casey Kemak, Kyle, Ashley and Christopher Kemak, Dawson Westfall, Crystal Rider, Blake Kemak, Charles Kemak, Breanne, Tyler, and Dillion Kemak, Kelly, Mary and Megan Quinlan, Cody Kemak, Kylie Beckwith, Lance Corporal Joshua Decker, and Hunter and Colton Lewis; and two great grandsons, Riley Kemak and Ted Kemak IV. He is also survived by brothers, Frank and John, and sisters, Dot, Jean, Mary and Helen, and a sister-in-law, Kathryn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 19, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Whitney Point, NY with Reverend Jerome Katz as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery at a later date. The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Sunday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Ted may be directed to the Willet Rescue Squad, c/o Margaret Yarnes, Willet, NY 13863 or Caring Community Hospice of Cortland, 11 Kennedy Parkway, Cortland, NY 13045.
