Shirley M. Keator

March 29, 1932 — July 15, 2013

Shirley M. Keator, 81, formerly of Pharsalia, NY, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2013, at the home of her daughter in Stuyvesant, NY.

Born in German, NY on March 29, 1932, Mrs. Keator was a daughter of the late Clarence and Mildred Coler Monk.  A longtime resident of Pharsalia, she worked as a Sr. Companion for Broome Developmental Services for 15 years, until her retirement in 2010.  She had also served as the secretary for the Wayside Rest Cemetery Association for a number of years.

She is survived by her children, Jim (Pam) Keator of Beremen, GA, and Joan (Tom) Fish of Stuyvesant.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Donald, Billy, and Randi Keator, Joseph Plant, and Robert and Ernie Keator; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Donald Keator, in 1992; a son, John Keator; and a niece, Yvonne Parsons.

The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Wayside Rest Cemetery, Pharsalia, with Jeanne Angell officiating.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Keator may be directed to Hospice of Columbia/Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill, NY 12414.
