Ruth E. Bergan, 101, of Freetown, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at the Cortland Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Ruth was born in Buffalo, NY, on June 13, 1918, the daughter of the late Nikolaus and Anna Worthman Reisinger. She married Norman Bergan in 1936 and raised four children, after which she attended SUNY Buffalo for a degree in Elementary Education, graduating cum laude. She subsequently taught for the West Seneca School District for many years. In 2002 she moved with her husband to Freetown to live near her daughter. Ruth attended McGrawville Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for several years.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Coe of Wilmington, NC, Candace (Hal) Dallman of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Deborah (Lynn) Kenyon-Koch of Marathon, and Norman (Diane) Bergan, Jr. of Flowermound, TX. She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Norman Bergan, Sr.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public services. A private family service will be held at the convenience of the family.
