Rose M. (Holl) Bush, 75, of Taylor, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.
Rose was born on December 20, 1949, in Cortland, NY, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Fern Loomis Holl. Rose dedicated her life to her family and community, leaving a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Rose worked for an impressive 33 years as a licensed practical nurse at Highgate Manor in Cortland, where she cared for countless residents with compassion and dedication. She had also served as the OSHA representative at Highgate Manor. She took pride in her role as an assistant for elections for the Cortland County Board of Elections, demonstrating her commitment to civic duty.
A graduate of Cincinnatus Central School, Rose furthered her education by receiving her nursing degree from SUNY Morrisville. Her professional journey exemplified not only her commitment to healthcare but also her nurturing spirit. For Rose, family was everything; she devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, encompassing a love that radiated throughout her family tree.
Among her proudest accomplishments, twelve years ago, Rose received the gift of life through a heart transplant, a testament to her strength and resilience.
She leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Gene C. Bush of Taylor. Together, they created a warm and loving home for their children: son Marc (Christina) Bush of The Dalles, OR; daughter Cheryl (John Munroe) Hughes of Syracuse; daughter Christina Brown of Cincinnatus; and son Douglas Bush of Cincinnatus. She delighted in the joy brought by her grandchildren: Aislinn (Matthew Preheim) Murphy, Anthony Bush, Owen Bush, Aron (Christopher) Long, Jade Stout, Gabrielle Munroe, Dakota-Rose Brown, and Novalee Bush, as well as her great-grandchildren: Cam, Sloane, Axel, and Bren.
Rose was the cherished sister of Mira (Gary) Earls of Cortland, Lucy (Roy) Brobeck-Thornton of Cincinnatus, Ella (Rick) Dorman of Cincinnatus, and Gene Holl of Cincinnatus. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a special niece, Jennifer Dorman, who will miss her kind spirit.
A memorial service for Rose will be held at the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor George Carruth officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the start of the service at 1:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Rose may be directed to the American Heart Association,, P.O. Rose will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to her family, her relentless spirit, and her immeasurable kindness to others. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
