Rodger D. Blanchard, Sr., 90, of Baldwinsville, NY, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019, at the Iroquois Nursing Center, Jamesville, NY.
Mr. Blanchard was born in Taylor, NY, on August 21, 1928, the son of the late Davis and Edna Phillips Blanchard. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1952 until 1955 where he achieved the rank of Captain and then served in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1965. Mr. Blanchard’s main profession was as a meat cutter and butcher. He was the former owner of the Clover Leaf Market in Cincinnatus for several years. At one time, he also owned the Super Duper in E. Syracuse and worked as a meat cutter for the Seneca Army Depot. Mr. Blanchard had most recently worked for the Baldwinsville Central School District and was a Free and Accepted Mason.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy Masin Blanchard; and his children, Tammy (John) Terpening of Sarasota, FL, Jeanne (David) Bryant of Jordan, Dorena (Steven) Clifton, Roger “Taur” (Tina) Blanchard, Jr., Tina (John) Harkins, and Bugsy (Dava) Blanchard, all of Baldwinsville. He also leaves behind his sisters, Evelyn Watson of Vestal and Mary Lou Pudney of Cincinnatus; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Jeanne Bryant, 6895 Stevens Road, Jordan, NY.
