Richard D. Allis

Richard D. Allis, 82, of McGraw, NY, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021, at the Crown Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Cortland, NY.

Rich was born in Cortland, NY, on September 19, 1938, the son of the late Miner and Doris Reynolds Allis.  A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of the McGraw United Methodist Church.  He retired from the Cortland County Highway Department after 25 plus years of service.  He also owned and operated Richard D. Allis Excavating and the Sky View Acres Beef Farm for many years.  He was a past member of the McGraw American Legion.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Janice “Johnnie” Allis; and his children, Robert (Pilar) Allis of New Mexico, Patricia (Cory) Smith of McGraw, Susan (Rick) Urban of Homer, and Kathleen (Michael) Timmerman of Cortland.  He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jessica, Casey, Donovan, Thornton, Alex, Drew, Erik, Maria, Brody, Marissa, Michael, Morgan, Seth, and Zoe; two great-granddaughters; a sister, Kay (Rod) Birdsall of Naples, FL; a brother-in-law, Burt Abdallah of McGraw; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Keillan Allis,  a sister, Diane Abdallah; and his stepfather, John Breeds.

A memorial service will be held at the McGraw United Methodist Church, McGraw, NY, on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Hyun Joon Kim officiating.  Burial will be in the McGraw Cemetery at a later date.  The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service at 12:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Rich may be directed to the McGraw United Methodist Church, P.O.
