Phyllis M. Jacobi

Phyllis M. (Hemmings) Jacobi, 83, of McGraw, NY, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY.

Born in Cortland, NY, on November 16, 1939, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Robert and Violet Berry Hemmings.  A lifelong resident of the area, she was a 1957 graduate of Homer Central School.  She was a member of the McGrawville Baptist Church and a member of the church choir.  She married Robert W. Jacobi on June 15, 1962, who predeceased her in 2022.  She served as a volunteer for the McGraw Historical Society for many years.  From 1957 to 1966, she was employed by the First National Bank of Cortland.  From 1966 to 1972, she was employed in the office by Crescent Corset Company.  From 1972 until her retirement in 2005, she was employed in the office at  OCM BOCES.

She is survived by her brother and his wife, Richard B. and Patricia Hemmings; nephews, Philip and Andrew Hemmings; and nieces, Lorrie Duvall and Monnica. Bruno

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by her sister, Donna Hemmings Corey; her nephews, Michael and Jeffrey Hemmings.

Funeral services for Phyllis will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the McGrawville Baptist Church with Reverend Fran Cochran officiating.  Burial will be in McGraw Cemetery.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Phyllis may be directed to the ALS Association, Upstate Chapter, 135 Old Cove Road, Suite 213, Liverpool, NY 13090 or the McGrawville Baptist Church, 7 E. Main Street, McGraw, NY 13101.

The family would like to thank the staff at Guthrie Cortland and the nurses on 2C for the care and compassion give to Phyllis and also the staff at Crown Park whom she considered family.
