Patricia Harahus

Patricia Carroll (Fennessy) Shepard Harahus, 87, of McDonough, NY, passed away peacefully at her home while surrounded by family and under the care of hospice.

Born in Mt. Vernon, NY, Patsy was the daughter of the late Thomas V. and Ethel C. Hottendorf Fennessy.  A longtime resident of the area, she was actively involved in politics and had previously served as the McDonough Town Supervisor.  She was a member of the McDonough American Legion Post #1478 and would often do the cooking for various events and fundraisers.  In addition, she was a former member of the McDonough Fire Commissioners.  Patsy was a very social person who enjoyed spending time with her friends.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan M.B.(Shepard) and George S. Roach and a granddaughter, Allison L. Slack.  She also leaves behind her stepgrandsons, Shane M. Roach and Joseph W. Roach; her great-granddaughter, Brooke R. Reynolds; step great-grandchildren, Jaelyn M. Roach, Madalyn M. Roach, Conor J. Roach and Vanessa M. Cruger.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Steve S. Shepard; her second husband, John Harahus; and sisters, Ethel Kobylack, Constance Peironi and Marilyn Fagan.

A graveside service will be held at the McDonough Union Cemetery at a later date.  In keeping with her wishes, there will be no prior services.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Patsy may be directed to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
