Norma L. (Howard) Burmingham, 100 years of age, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Fairport, NY, on May 10, 2024.
Norma was born in Camden, NY, on September 16, 1923, the daughter of the late Erwin and Mary Ethelyn Searles Howard. Norma led a fulfilling life dedicated to service and care for others. She was a faithful member of the McGrawville Baptist Church. Prior to her retirement, she spent 13 years driving school bus for Homer Central School and also worked in the cafeteria at McGraw Central School for several years, touching the lives of many with her warmth and kindness. In her younger years, Norma discovered her passion for gardening while working at a greenhouse. This love for plants bloomed into a lifelong joy that brought beauty and tranquility into the lives of those around her.
Norma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Judy Burmingham of Fairport. She will also be dearly missed by her granddaughter Lindsay (Dave) Gaston of Moravia; her great-grandchildren Declan, Waylon, Waverly, and Finnegan Gaston; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harold Burmingham, in 1998; a son, Alan Burmingham; and brothers, Rudolph and Kenneth Howard
The visitation to honor Norma's life will be held on May 15, 2024, from 4:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. at the McGrawville Baptist Church. Funeral services will take place at the church on May 16th at 11:00 a.m., with her pastor, Reverend Fran Cochran officiating. Burial will be in McGraw Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Norma leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to family that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace knowing she was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
