Nancy C. Cowburn (formerly Nancy Knickerbocker of Cincinnatus), 63, of Fort Myers, Florida died Friday, November 29, 2013, with her family by her side at the Hope Hospice Home in Fort Myers from injuries sustained in a November 15, 2013 automobile accident.
Born March 8, 1950, in Batavia, she has resided in the Fort Myers area for the past decade where she dedicated her life as a nurse helping people in various assisted living retirement facilities. Prior to moving to Fort Myers she resided in the Central NY area where she was also a caregiver to those in the later stages of life.
She was a proud mother, grandmother, and a devoted sister. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Thom) Mulhern of Taylor and her son, Donald (Tina) Knickerbocker of Cincinnatus.
She also leaves behind her grandchildren Danielle and Thomas Mulhern and Miranda and Madison Knickerbocker. Additionally, Nancy leaves her brothers William (Bernice) Corrigan of Saratoga, and Almon (Linda) Corrigan of Baldwinsville, as well as her sisters Marilyn (Bob) Foucart of Liverpool, Kathy (Dave) Gingrich of Cicero, and Sally (Bob) Niggli of Tampa. Nancy will be greatly missed by her adored pet parrot, Wally McGregor.
There will be no memorial services at this time. A celebration of Nancy’s life will take place in the spring. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Nancy may be directed to Caring Community Hospice of Cortland, 11 Kennedy Parkway, Cortland, NY 13045.
