Michael L. Pryor, Sr., 75, of Union Valley, NY, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021, at the Syracuse VA Medical Center, Syracuse, NY.
Born in Cortland, NY, on June 6, 1945, Mike was the son of the late Lindsay and Bessie Cook Pryor. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1963 graduate of Cincinnatus Central School. After graduation, he proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from Buckbee Meers in Cortland where he had been employed as a metallurgist for 25 plus years. Upon retirement, he worked at ARC in Cortland where he assisted the residents. He attended the Berean Bible Church and was also a member of the Cortland Pistol Club. In his spare time, and whenever possible, he enjoyed fishing. Mike’s family was his life and he enjoyed the time he spent with them and his pets.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sharon Loomis Pryor; and his children, Scott (Valerie) Yeaw of Pitcher, Michael (Traci Dutton) Pryor, Jr. of Calistoga, CA, Cheryl (Michael) Phippen of Kinderhook, David Yeaw of Marathon, and Candi (Terry) Bordell of Delmar. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Mary, Sean, Joan, Calista, Cameron, Kayla, McKena, and Sophie; ten great-grandchildren; a brother, David (Barbara) Pryor of Coco, FL; sisters, Kathy (David) Pridemore of St. Cloud, FL, and Joanne Pryor of Winter Park, FL; an uncle George (Sharon) Pryor of Cincinnatus; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepmother, Mary Pryor.
The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Friday, March 19, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. NYS Covid-19 guidelines will be followed. Masks must be worn and social distancing will be in place. Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery at a later date.
