Matthew S. Francisco

Matthew S. Francisco, 39, of DeRuyter, NY, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, NY.

Born in Norwich, NY, on August 14, 1978, Matt was the son of Rexford Francisco, Jr. and Dorothy Barrett Smith.  He was a graduate of Cincinnatus Central School and had previously been employed at Borg Warner, Ithaca, for several years.  He was former member of the Cincinnatus Fire Department.  Matt enjoyed bowling and spending time outdoors where he would hunt and fish.

He is survived by his parents, Dorothy (Ron) Smith of Cincinnatus, and Rexford Francisco, Jr. of DeRuyter; his brothers, Tim (Dawn Linn) Francisco of Blodgett Mills and Bruce (Michelle) Smith of Groton; his sisters, Missy (Austin) DuBois of Beaver Meadow and Wendy (Christopher Jackson) Smith of Cortland.  He also leaves behind his grandmothers, Christine Barrett of Pharsalia and Doris Francisco of Sidney; a special niece, Kaydence; a special friend, Erin Halsey Ryan of Cortland; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Sonny Barrett, and Rexford Francisco, Sr.

Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Paul Carlson officiating.  Burial will be in Wayside Rest Cemetery, Pharsalia.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service at 1:00 p.m.
