Margaret Elizabeth Standish

Margaret Elizabeth Standish, 49, of 5925 Webb Road, Willet, NY, loving wife, mother and grandmother, went to heaven on January 29, 2012, after a courageous 13-year battle with breast cancer.

She was born at Cortland Hospital on May 5, 1962 to Gene and Sandra (Wheaton) Nowalk. She graduated from Cincinnatus Central School in 1980. Margaret was an animal lover who cherished her dogs, cats, and goats. She most enjoyed being at her home, by her pond, with her family and friends.

She is survived by her parents, her loving spouse of 29 years, Craig Standish, as well as her son, Duane (Judy) Standish of McGraw, daughters Shaye (Bill Dougherty) Jasper of Killawog, and BreAnn (Nathaniel) Call of Addison. She had three granddaughters, Tesla and Makayla Standish, and Audrey Jasper; a grandson, Landon Dougherty; a brother, Zachary Nowalk; a stepdaughter, Michelle Standish; nieces, Hillarie Weir and Cheyenne Nowalk; and a nephew, Nicholas Nowalk.

Margaret was predeceased by her sister, Meggan Nowalk, and grandchildren, Andrew and Rachel Jasper.

At Margaret's request, there will be a private memorial service. Her wish was for family and friends to celebrate her life with her family on May 5, 2012, at her home. Not a time to mourn her loss, but to remember the happy thoughts and the way she touched so many lives. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in her memory, may be made to the Lourde's Breast Cancer Center, 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, NY 13905.
