Lulu Beth (Crandall) Baldwin, 89, of Canandaigua, NY, and formerly of South Otselic, NY, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020, at the Ontario Center for Rehabilitation.
Born in Norwich, NY, on February 14, 1931, Mrs. Baldwin was the daughter of the late Floyd and Lulu Stillman Crandall. She was the last of five sisters who grew up in South Otselic. Her mother died at an early age and she was raised by her oldest sister, Maybelle. Prior to her retirement, she had worked at Weaver Chicken in Leola, PA and the Boy Scouts of America in Lancaster, PA. She had also worked as an administrative assistant for the Cortland Hospital. The church was an important part of her life and she had previously taught Sunday School at the United Methodist Church of Cincinnatus. In her spare time, she taught English to Vietnamese students. She had a thirst for life-long learning, as well as many passions in life which included singing, playing the trombone, painting, card games, sailing, and camping. Beth was a “free” spirit with flames of enthusiasm and great pride in her children.
She is survived by her children, Alan (Patricia) Baldwin of Kent, OH, Gary (Stephanie) Baldwin of Canandaigua, and Kathy Davis of Pharsalia. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Kelly Baldwin, Karen (Eric) Terry, Kristofer Baldwin, Nathaniel Davis, and Carrie Davis; her great-grandchildren, Elijah, Gabrielle, Shailynn, Elissa, and Kyle; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Richard Baldwin, in 2011; and her sisters, MayBelle Contino, Elsie Eccleston, Alma Ayers, and Alice Rookard.
Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Baldwin may be directed to the Kidney Foundation of CNY, 731 James Street #200, Syracuse, NY 13203.
