Leona May Westgaard

Leona May (Glassford) Westgaard, 73, of Willet, NY, passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at the Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY.

Mrs. Westgaard was born in Cortland, NY, on June 25, 1948, the daughter of the late Nathan and Ruth Smith Glassford. Earlier in her life, she worked as a nurse’s aide at Highgate Manor Nursing Home, Cortland, NY.

She is survived by her husband, Haakon Westgaard; and one son, Brandon H. Westgaard of Dallas, TX. She also leaves behind her sister, Nancy (Leon) Battie of Solon; brothers, Neal (LuAnn) Glassford of Willet and Nelson (Brenda) Glassford of Solon; stepdaughters, Cheryl Rojo of Colony, TX and Michelle Hathhorn of Garland, TX; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Shannon Hammond; and a nephew, Theodore Hammond.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Willet/Cincinnatus Sr. Center on Sunday, July 25, 2021, from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. If you wish, you may bring a dish-to-pass and a beverage.
