Leon “Bubby” R. Freeman, 67, of McGraw, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center.
Born in Cortland, NY, on August 7, 1951, Bubby was the son of Robert and Bessie Ford Freeman. A lifelong resident of the area, he had been employed by Suit-Kote, Marcellus Construction, and Highlander Construction for many years. He was a life member of the McGraw Fire Department and McGraw Sportsman’s Club and President of the Solon Sportsmen’s Club. He was also a member of the VFW and Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carol Widger Freeman. He also leaves behind his mother, Bessie Freeman of McGraw, and a sister, Jackie (Malcolm) Brown of Cortland; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Robert Freeman, and his son, Robert “Raz” Freeman, on March 11, 2017.
The family will be present to receive friends at the McGraw Community Center, McGraw, NY on Monday, June 10, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Committal services will be held at the Taylor Rural Cemetery, Cincinnatus, NY, on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Bubby may be directed to the McGraw Fire Department, P.O.
