Kenneth David Martin

Kenneth “Cougar” D. Martin, 60, of South Otselic, NY, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at his home, following an extended illness.

Ken was born in Jackson, CA, on December 12, 1958, the son of the late Kenneth and Barbara Bendon Martin.  He was a 1977 graduate of Otselic Valley Central School and then proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1978 until 1981.  He was a member and past commander of the Perry Cook American Legion Post #963, South Otselic.  He had most recently been employed by Lan-Co in Syracuse and, prior to that, had worked for Street Brothers in Syracuse and Roger’s Conservation Services in Sherburne.  Ken was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, and hunting and especially enjoyed watching the wildlife.

He is survived by his life partner, Deborah Parkhurst; and a daughter, Kylie (Anthony Laurenitis) Martin of Broad Brook, CT.  He also leaves behind his sisters, Caroline (William) Wentworth of South Otselic, Elizabeth (Robert Walters) Silliman of Lafayette, Mary (Mehmet) Ozturk of Weymouth, MA, and Barbara (Kevin) Hillman of South Otselic; a sister-in-law, Cynthia Martin of Georgetown; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Richard E. Martin in 1996.

A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Apple Creek Golf Course, 1230 Mariposa Road, DeRuyter, NY.  There will be no prior calling hours.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Ken may be directed to Friends of Rogers, 2721 NY Route 80, Sherburne, NY 13460.
