Kenneth R. Golden, Sr., 62, of Union Valley and formerly of McGraw, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012, at his home.
Ken was born in Cortland, NY on June 21, 1950, a son of Robert and Arlene Compton Golden. A lifelong resident of this area, he was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict having served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1975.
In addition to his mother, Arlene Golden, of Union Valley, he is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nancy Hutchings Golden, and his children, Debra (John) Wing of Cortland, Joseph Slocum of Union Valley, Kenneth Golden, Jr., of Cortland, and Patrick (Ashley) Golden of Fabius. He also leaves behind his brothers, Bernard Golden of Fabius, Thomas Golden of Linklaen Center, Steven (Sue) Golden of Cortland, Lawrence Golden of Truxton, Jeffrey (Jeanette Compton) Golden of Homer, and Jonathon (Dede Warner) Golden of Cuyler; his sisters, Bonnie Bates of Truxton, Kathy (David) Bush of Delphi Falls, and Nancy Ward of Florida; 16 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his father, Robert Golden, he was also predeceased by a brother, Russell Golden, two grandchildren and a nephew, Bernard "Bubby" Golden.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no prior calling hours or funeral service. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at the Union Valley Cemetery on Friday, December 21, 2012, at 11:00 a.m.
