Kenneth “Jim” Eugene Elwood, 86, of Taylor, NY, passed away peacefully at his home, while surrounded by his family and under the care of hospice.
Jim was born in the Town of Taylor, NY, on October 2, 1937, the son of the late Kenneth L. and Stella L. Fiske Elwood. For several years, he worked as an equipment operator for the NYS DOT. More recently, he was a self-employed logger. Jim loved to spend time in the outdoors, whether he was hunting, fishing or gardening, he was happy.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carolyn “Kelly” Potter Elwood; and his children, Scott (Susan) Elwood of Taylor and Julie (Chris) Griffin of Solon. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Emily (Patrick) Wiater of Cincinnatus, Molly (Marcel) LaChance of Whitney Point, Adam (Ang) Rowe of Solon, and Mariah (Cody) Griffin-Brown of McGraw; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Johnston of Union Valley; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
It was Jim’s wish to donate his body to Upstate University Medical School so that students may continue their education. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
