Kenneth B. Blanchard, 86, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020, at the Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland NY, while surrounded by his family.
Born in the Town of Taylor, NY, on September 1, 1933, Ken was the son of the late Bryan and Gertrude Potter Blanchard. A lifelong resident of the area, Ken was a 1952 graduate of Cincinnatus Central School and a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus. He retired from Sunoco, Inc., after 28 years of service and then worked for the Town of Cincinnatus for several years. He was a life member and past chief of the Cincinnatus Fire Department and also served as fire commissioner for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth Sargent Blanchard; and his children, Sharon (Jeffrey) Braman of Cortland and JoAnne (Michael) Collins of Homer. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Melissa (Pete) Weaver, Matthew (Jill) Welsh, Patrick (Lacey) Braman, and Jaclyn Braman; his great-grandsons, Wyatt and Briggs Welsh; a brother, James Blanchard of Cincinnatus; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Saturday, February 8, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held at the funeral home immediately following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Fred M.S. Downs officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery at a later date. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Ken may be directed to the Cincinnatus Fire Department, P.O.
