Joyce M. Griffin

Joyce M. (Sullivan) Griffin, 77, of Marathon, NY, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at SUNY Upstate, Syracuse, NY, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Griffin was born in Tioga, NY on December 28, 1932, a daughter of the late William Andrew and Almyra Stout Sullivan. A longtime resident of the area, she attended the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Cincinnatus. She retired from Cresent Corp., Cortland, after 26 years of service. In her spare time, she stayed active with the Willet/Cincy Sr. Center.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Harold F. Griffin, of Marathon, and her children, Albert Wildrick of Hunts Corners, Diane (Phil) Couch of Marathon, and Darlene (David) Couch of Harford. She also leaves behind a sister, Ellen (Lou) Freelove of Florida; brothers, Gordon Sullivan of Tully, Grant (Marion) Sullivan of Greene, and Richard (Martha) Sullivan of Chittenango; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Christian Union with Rev. Palmer Neumeister officiating. Burial will be in Willet Cemetery at a later date. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the start of the service at 3:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Griffin may be directed to the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Cincinnatus, NY.
