Joseph M. Doane

Joseph M. Doane, 55, of McGraw, NY, joined his Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 7, 2018, with his loving family by his side at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Joe was born in Sayre, PA, on June 27, 1962 to the late Jean Shoemaker and Joe Driscoll.  He attended Cincinnatus and Cortland Schools.  Joe was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He truly loved life to its fullest through simple pleasures.  A giving and kind person who would always lend a helping hand to those in need whether it was his family or friends.  Joe had a passion for carpentry and excelled in woodworking skills.  He was employed with Apple Roofing and most recently obtained Asbestos Certification with NYS.  Other certifications Joe earned included JLG Rough-Terrain Forklift and Heavy Equipment Operator.

He is survived by his siblings, Jack (Sue Scofield) of Jacksonville, Leo and Ronald (Cathy Oliver) Doane, all of Cortland, Shelly (Richard Fink) Lockwood of Cleveland, GA, Tina Driscoll of Syracuse, Tony (Kathy Howe) Doane of Sebring, FL, Jennifer Driscoll of McLean, Wesley (Cassie) Shoemaker of Cincinnatus, and Mary (Ken) Sweet of Herkimer.  Joe also leaves behind nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many close friends.

In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Shoemaker and William Buchanan, Jr.

The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  A brief prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 3:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Joe may be directed to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
