John W. Dietrich, 74, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016, after a long illness, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital.
A life member of the Cincinnatus Fire Department and Emergency Squad, he shared in the development of the Health Center of Cincinnatus. John was a barber by trade and operated his own shop in Cincinnatus and Cortland in the 1960's. His main profession was a highway superintendent, working many years with Green Island Construction/Ketco out of Latham, NY. After receiving a gift of life kidney, he left his home after 69 years to share five years with his daughter and family. In his spare time, he enjoyed NASCAR, cooking, and telling stories.
John is survived by his wife, Penny; daughter Pam (Joe Ciresi) and grandson, Daniel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Weir (Sandy) and Josephine (Fish) Dietrich; and a brother, Gary.
John will be coming home to rest at a graveside memorial at Taylor Rural Cemetery on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at 11:00 am. with Fred M.S. Downs officiating.
