John Bamberry

John M. Bamberry, 78, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away unexpectedly at his home Wednesday, October 16, 2024. 

John was born on April 22, 1946, in Rome, NY, the son of the late Arthur and Octavia Bamberry.  A lifelong resident of the area, he was a graduate of DeRuyter Central School. Prior to his retirement, John was employed at Gutchess Lumber in Cortland for many years. John was a man who cherished time spent with his family. He loved to travel, creating lasting memories with his loved ones. His interests extended beyond adventures; he found joy in cutting wood, hunting, and sharing lively card games with friends. 

John is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Wyatt Bamberry, who shared 55 wonderful years of marriage with him. He is also survived by his children: son John (Kristina) Bamberry of Greenfield, NY; daughter Sara (Billy Ryan) Birtch of Cincinnatus; and son David Bamberry of Cincinnatus. John was a proud grandfather to Noah, Vanessa, Haleigh, Cody, Sierra, James, Ashton, and Seth, as well as a loving great-grandfather to Octavia, Tyler, Avarie, Keagen, and Carson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Octavia Bamberry.

Funeral services for John will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Peter Bush officiating.  Burial will be in Willet Cemetery.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m.
