Joan M. Beebe, 79, of Berkshire (Speedsville), NY, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.
Joan was born in Johnson City, NY on March 29, 1933, a daughter of the late Ray and Edna Brown Chrysler. A longtime resident of Speedsville, she was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and was active with the ECW for several years. For many years, she, along with her husband, George Beebe, who predeceased her on October 1, 2005, owned and operated a dairy farm in Speedsville.
She is survived by her children, James Beebe of Speedville, Mark (Cathy) Beebe of Speedsville, George "Hoby" (LuAnn) Beebe of Richford, and Lori (Joseph) Calleo of Endicott. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Brian, Jason, Amanda, Ashley, Mark, Kevin, Nicole, Vincent, Jenny, Dominic, Liza, and Mia; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Lena (Eugene) Dougherty of Candor; brothers, Gene (Wanda) Chrysler of Marathon, and David (Sharon) Chrysler of Binghamton; brother-in-law, DeWitt Beebe of Speedsville; sister-in-law, Eunice Dalton of Newark Valley; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her sisters, Sybil (Sami) Abbey and Bonnie Grist; and brothers, Glen and Bob Chrysler.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, Speedsville, with Reverend Richard Schaal and Reverend Philip Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Speedsville Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the church from 12:00 noon until the start of the service at 2:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Joan may be directed to the Speedsville Cemetery Association, c/o Mary Jordan, 262 Dimon Hill Road, Berkshire, NY 13736.
