Jean A. Underwood

January 26, 1935 — May 26, 2017

Jean A. Underwood, 82, of Berkshire, NY, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017, with a view of her beloved Berkshire Hills and her family close by.

Born in Blakely, PA, on January 26, 1935, Mrs. Underwood was the daughter of Arthur and Genevieve Sheerer Foux.  She moved to Berkshire as a young girl and remained here for life. She was a member of the Berkshire Congregational Church.

Jean loved to travel and have family gatherings.  She was fortunate to take her children on many RV trips cross country in her younger years. Birthday and holiday celebrations with family around were important to her. She loved crafts and simple homemade games which she and friend Dorothy Armstrong shared for many years with children at The Berkshire Fireman’s Auxiliary Children’s Christmas party.

She is survived by her sons, James (Cindie Bobnick) Underwood of King Ferry and John (Tracey) Underwood of Genoa; and her daughters, Terri (David) Banks of Sidney, Lisa (Michael) Michaud of Berkshire, and Lynn (James) Rosenberger of Athens, PA; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.  She also leaves behind a brother, Robert A. Foux of Lenoxville, PA.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Charles Underwood, on April 23, 2017; and a great-granddaughter, Brianna Olcott.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be a private family service at a later time.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 3, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at an Open House time of fellowship and remembrance for both Jean and her recently departed husband, Charles, at the Michaud home located at 358 Ford Hill Road, Berkshire, NY. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Underwood may be made to the Berkshire Congregational Church, 12445 NYS Route 38, Berkshire, NY 13736.
