Jared "Skip" M. Shore

Jared “Skip” M. Shore, 79, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center, while surrounded by his family.

Born in Oxford, NY on October 24, 1936, Skip was the son of the late Carlton and Freida Montgomery Shore.  A longtime resident of the area, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy.  He retired from the NYS DOT, Binghamton, in 1998 after 18 years of service.  Prior to that, he was employed at Simmons Precision, Norwich.  He was a former town councilman for the Town of Cincinnatus and a former member of the Cortland County Republican Committee.  In his spare time, Skip enjoyed playing cards with his friends at the Willet/Cincinnatus Sr. Center and volunteering many hours to do whatever was needed at the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary McKee Shore, and his son, Colby Shore of Homer.  He also leaves behind his granddaughters, Lauren and Ana Shore; a sister, Judith (Robert) Michels of Bainbridge; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a daughter, Shelby Shore, in 1991, and a sister, Carla Stanton.

Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor George Carruth and Fred M.S. Downs officiating.  Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Skip may be directed to the Cincinnatus Emergency Squad, c/o Elaine Oros, 5771 McFarlane Rd., Cincinnatus, NY 13040.
