Jane Glezen Lee Knapp

August 31, 1914 — October 10, 2011

Jane Glezen Lee Knapp went to be with her Lord on Monday, October 10, 2011. She was at home and surrounded by her loving family.

The daughter of Joseph Woolford Glezen and Hazel Phelps Glezen was born on August 31, 1914, at the family farm on Owen Hill Road, Lisle, NY. She would often reminisce about her early childhood there, and on road trips Jane would request that we drive by "the old homestead," even if it meant a twenty-mile detour. Jane was a graduate of the Cincinnatus Academy and Lowell's School of Business in Binghamton. She began her career at the Cortland County Court House as a stenographer. She met and married Robert "Bud" Lee, a local musician in 1938, and they moved to Syracuse where they worked and raised their family. Jane later worked as an executive secretary at Westinghouse Electric and at City Electric. Upon retirement she and Bud moved to Cincinnatus to enjoy golfing, fishing, and hunting. Several years after Bud's death, she married Clarence Knapp with whom she shared a love of the outdoors and of dancing at the Country Music Park. We shall miss our Nana, "The Lady in Pink."

Jane was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Olcott Lee, in 1983, and by her second husband, Clarence J. Knapp, in 1997; by her sisters Cora Josephine Glezen Baldwin and Hilda Louise Glezen Blaedon; by her brother Joseph Woolford Glezen II; and by son-in-law John P. Yaniskivis.

She is survived by her children Sandra Lee (James) Longaker of Cincinnatus, and Sonya Lee Yaniskivis of Ripley Hancock, Michigan; her grandchildren Jane (John) Hunter of Homer, Joan Finney (Allen Graham ) of Colorado, Mary (Steve) Kemak of Cincinnatus, David Longaker (Lisa Valentine) of Richfield Springs, Eric Jurgensen, Laura Jurgensen, and Garth Jurgensen of Michigan; her great-grandchildren Elena Irwin, Sarah Jane (Keith) Semerod, Kelsey (Andrew) Barrett, David Nate Eckert, Kylee Beckwith, Leif Jurgensen, Brooke Jurgensen, and Macy Lee Jurgensen; her great-great-grandchildren James Damon Hunter and Harper Jane Semerod; and by several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Heritage Hall, Cincinnatus, NY at 2:00 p.m. with Fred M.S. Downs officiating. Arrangements are in the care of K.L. Sharp Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to the Cortland County Area Agency on Aging-EISEP Program or the Cincinnatus Emergency Squad.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to St. Joseph's Home Care Staff, compassionately caring for Jane after her recent hospitalizations and to the EISEP program staff for assistance and guidance in helping Jane maintain her level of independence at home.
