James D. Vosburg

James D. Vosburg, 46, of Freetown, NY, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014, at University Hospital, Syracuse, NY, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Jim was born in Cortland, NY on May 25, 1968, the son of Douglas Vosburg and Sheila Taft.  A graduate of Cincinnatus Central School, Jim was a member of the Iron Worker’s Union and was most recently employed by Economy Paving.  He was a member of the McGraw Sportsman’s Club and the Knickerbocker Country Club.  Jim was an avid Syracuse University fan who enjoyed riding snowmobile and being in the outdoors.  He especially enjoyed being around his pond, and could always be found tinkering with things.  He enjoyed life to the fullest and, even in tragedy, shared that joy of life by the donation of his organs so that others may live.

He is survived by his wife, Roxanne McCracken Vosburg of Freetown, and a stepson, Ryan (Jamia Adams) Harvey of Pitcher.  He also leaves behind his father, Douglas “Butch” (Sandy) Vosburg of Cincinnatus; his mother, Sheila (Cindy Northrup) Taft of Homer; brothers, Thomas (Lorrie) Vosburg of Pitcher and Michael (Chris) Ouimet of Oneonta; a niece, Kassie Vosburg of Pitcher; a nephew, Kooper Vosburg of Pitcher; a stepbrother, Howard (Deb) Scoville of Cortland; stepsisters, Michelle Jorgensen of Oxford and Melinda Rigo of Endicott; several aunts and uncles; and many close friends too numerous to mention by name.

He was predeceased by his son, David Lee Harahus, on September 12, 1992.

The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.  A celebration of Jim’s life will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the family home at 4220 Stramba Road, Freetown.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Jim may be directed to the McGraw Sportsman’s Club, 3154 Ridge Road, McGraw, NY 13101.
