James E. Munro, 91, of McDonough, NY, and formerly of Long Island, NY and Atlantic City, NJ, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at the Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich, NY.
Born in Swissdale, PA, James was the son of the late Harry and Beatrice Heaton Munro. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated J&M Trucking in Mendford, Long Island, NY. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trips to the casino.
He is survived by his children, Linda (Randy) Northrup of McDonough, and Edward “Buzzy” (Cheryl) Munro of Cincinnatus. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Annette Barrows of McDonough, Alan Blanchard of Cortland, Chad Contri of Marathon, and Ed (Emily) Munro of Cincinnatus; his great-grandchildren, Arianna Blanchard, Gavin Bush, Blade Barrows, and Mackenzie Munro; his sisters, Beverly Munro and Candace Winters, both of Pennsylvania; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Denise Contri; brothers, Harry Munro, Jr. and Gary Munro; and a sister, Shirley Hahn.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services. Expressions of sympathy in memory of James may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
