James A. Kelsey, Jr.

James A. Kelsey, Jr., 53, of Norwich, NY, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2019, at Bassett Memorial Center, Cooperstown, NY.

Jim was born in Norwich, NY, on October 18, 1965, the oldest child of James Kelsey, Sr. and Marie Spinella.  He had been employed by the Chenango County Highway Department for several years.  Jim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Marie and Veryl Pittsley of Plymouth; his father and stepmother, James Kelsey, Sr. and Barbara Kelsey of Norwich; his former wife, Samantha Strobel Kelsey of Norwich; and his daugthers, Darcy (Jeremiah) Oakes of Norwich and Abigail Kelsey of Norwich, and his stepchildren, Amanda Jacox and Jeremiah Haskins.  He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Brooke, Robyn, Gavin, and Isabella; his sisters, Mary Ann (Peter) Graham of Winterhaven, FL, Patricia (Bret Eccleston) of Cincinnatus, and Erin (Steven) Graham of South Otselic; a stepbrother, Jedediah (Jennifer) Pittsley of Cincinnatus; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his furry friend, Angus.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.  A celebration of Jim's life will be held at the Park Place Sports Bar and Grill, 7 East Park Place, Norwich, NY, on Friday, October 18, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Jim may be directed to Pet Street Station, 6159 County Road 32, Norwich, NY 13815.
