James K. Drake, 56, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 17, 2017, in Fayetteville, PA, while doing what he loved most.
Born in Cortland, NY, on May 21, 1960, Jim was the son of Donald and Lorraine Washburn Cole. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a graduate of Marathon Central School. He was employed as a technician for several elevator companies in the Syracuse area for many years and was a member of the National Elevator Industry Union Local #62. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Maple Hill Golf Course and the Knickerbocker Country Club.
In addition to his parents, Donald and Lorraine Cole, of Cincinnatus, he is survived by his wife of 20 years, Melissa Jenney Drake; and a son, Bradley (Krysta Kerrick) Kizale of Dallas, PA. He also leaves behind his brothers, Michael Butts, Henry Capilango, Donald (Becky) Cole, Jr., and Allen (Jeannie) Drake; his sisters, Christina Hopkins, Denise (John) Greip, Tina (Dennis) Bleck, Patricia (Sydney) McEvoy, and Billie Jo Cole; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at the Maple Hill Golf Course, Marathon, NY, on Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The family has asked that contributions in Jim’s memory be made to the physical education program at Marathon Central School.
