Hope Cecelia Stanton Klee, born in Cortland, New York, on March 31, 1937, passed away peacefully at the Community Care Center in Plant City, FL on November 21, 2024. Hope had been a resident there for over six years, living with Alzheimer’s disease.
Hope was a long-term member of Sydney Assembly of God, Sydney, FL. She also attended Mount Zion Assembly of God in Plant City, FL, and Pleasant Grove Assembly of God in Durant, FL. She played violin in church until she was 81 years of age. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Hope graduated as Co -Valedictorian of Cortland High School Class of 1955.She received a bachelor’s degree in music education from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY and a master’s degree in education from State University New York in Cortland, NY.
Hope taught kindergarten and head start in the Newark Valley Central School, Dryden, Groton and Marathon Schools, all in her home state of New York. She continued substitute teaching in public and private schools in Hillsborough County, FL after moving there in 1969.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Harold John Klee, and her siblings and their spouses: David O. Stanton (Ellen), Oliver C. Stanton (Linda), Alvin J. Stanton, Ruth P. Marvel (Amos) and Emogene W. Hovanus (Norman).
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Alvin J. S. Klee (Edwina) of Sparta, TN, David H. Klee (Gayle) of Durant, FL, Wilmajoy R.H.K. Sisk (Simeon) of Almere, Netherlands and Ray N. Klee (Brandi) Fort Meade, FL; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild along with many loving nephews and nieces.
Hope will be interred with her husband Harold in Taylor Rural Cemetery, Taylor, NY, on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., weather dependent. K. L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY is in charge of arrangements.
