Hazel Bessie Steacy, 80, of Cincinnatus, NY and formerly of Theresa, NY, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2009, at University Hospital, Syracuse, NY.
Mrs. Steacy was born on July 29, 1929, a daughter of the late Earl Frederick and Pearl Delano Tibbles. She attended the Taylor Wesleyan Church. For several years she worked along side her husband, Jesse Steacy, Jr., on the family farm.
She is survived by her children, Carol Pittsley of Cincinnatus, Jessie (Keith) Fisk of Cincinnatus, Mae "Mary" (Eddie Poole) Tanner of S. Otselic, David (Jean) Steacy of Cuyler, Marian (Dan) Clendenning of Cortland, June (Richard) Graves of DeRuyter, Stacy (Heath) Phillips of Moravia, and Melissa Pearl Stacy of Cincinnatus. She also leaves behind her brothers, Alvin Tibbles of Theresa, Carl Tibbles of Adams, and Robert Tibbles of Theresa; her sisters, Etta (Donnie) Sero of Canada and Iva (Ted) Heir of Salt Lake City, UT; 28 grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Kayla Stacy; 42 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends Melinda Batsford and Dwight Lashley.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jesse, in 1992; brothers, George, Silas, Earl F., and Leon Tibbles; sisters, Georgeanna Rosenbarker and Ruth Duffany; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 4, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at the Taylor Wesleyan Church with Rev. Peter Bush and Rev. John Portney officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Theresa, NY on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY.
