Harley Richer, Jr., 85, of Greer, SC and formerly of South Otselic, NY, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at his home in South Carolina.
Mr. Richer was born in Otselic, NY on February 7, 1925, a son of the late Harley Richer, Sr. and Myrtle Timmerman Richer. He was an employee of B.F. Gladding, South Otselic, NY for 37 years. He retired from Theodore Accounting Firm. A veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, he was a member of the South Otselic American Legion for 61 years. He was also a member of the Otselic Valley #659 Free & Accepted Masons for 51 years where he served as District Deputy Grand Master. Mr. Richer was an avid fisherman, golfer and bowler.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Whorrall Richer, of Greer, SC; two daughters, Karen Smith of Atlanta, GA, and Kathleen MacLean of Jacksonville, FL; a brother Robert Richer of Norwich; a sister, Doris Livermore of Cincinnatus; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Mr. Richer was predeceased by a son, David Harley Richer.
The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Masonic services will be held at 12:00 noon. A graveside service, with full military honors, will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Valley View Cemetery, South Otselic, NY.
