Harlan J. Pudney, Sr.

June 22, 1928 — March 27, 2013

Harlan J. Pudney, Sr., 84, of Solon Pond, Town of Taylor, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at his home, while surrounded by his family.

Born at Solon Pond in the Town of Taylor, Harlan was a son of the late Alvah and Rena Steele Pudney.  A 1947 graduate of Cincinnatus Central School, he was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus and owned and operated a dairy farm at Solon Pond for his entire life.  He took great pride in referring to himself as a “Stay At Home Farmer.”  He was also a member of the Taylor Historical Society.  Harlan enjoyed tinkering on his many projects and was know as “Mr. Fix-It.”  One of his prize possessions was his golf cart.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 63 years, Mary Lou Blanchard Pudney, and his sons, Harlan (Trudy) Pudney, Jr. of Dryden, Terry (Vicki) Pudney, Sr. of Solon Pond, Joey (Patricia) Pudney of Solon Pond, and Kevin (Laura) Pudney of Spencer.  He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert Pudney, in 1997.

Funeral services will be held at the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus on Monday, April 1, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. with his pastor, Reverend George Carruth officiating.  Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery.  The family will be present to receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Harlan may be directed to the Taylor Historical Society, c/o Carol Walsh, 4332 Cheningo Solon Pond Rd., Cincinnatus, NY 13040, the Cincinnatus Emergency Squad, c/o Elaine Oros, 5771 McFarlane Rd., Cincinnatus, NY 13040, or the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus, 5695 Deer Path Lane, Cincinnatus, NY 13040.
