Gordon W. Fox, 80, of Marathon, NY, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011, at his home, while surrounded by his family.
Gordon was born in Cincinnatus, NY on September 5, 1931, a son of the late Clinton and Iva Fox. A lifelong resident of this area, he attended the Christian Fellowship Church in Lisle. He was a retired truck driver, working last for Hatfield Trucking in Cortland and a member of the Operating Engineer's Union in Syracuse.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Sharon White Fox, at home; and four sons, Joseph Fox of Syracuse, Lloyd (Tina) Fox of Cincinnatus, Gregory Fox of CA and Paul (Rose) Fox of Marathon. He also leaves behind his brothers, Jay Fox of Sempronius, Earl (Donna) Fox of Cortland, Daniel (Wilma Mailander) Fox of PA, Joe (Sheila) Fox of Cortland, Ira (Deborah) Fox of PA, and Gaius (Nancy) Fox of Lacona; his sisters, Beulah (Lloyd) Christopher of Cortland and Wanda Harvey of TN; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy, Sharon and Barbara and his brothers, Morris and Harold.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Russell Ward officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Gordon may be directed to the Marathon Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc., P.O.
