Genevieve Foux Barrows

Genevieve Foux Barrows, 97, of Berkshire, NY, passed away peacefully, at her home, on Sunday, December 12, 2010.

Mrs. Barrows was born in Winton, PA on January 2, 1913, a daughter of the late Edward and Edith Caines Sheerer. A long time resident of the Berkshire area, she was a member of the Berkshire Congregational Church. She retired from the Newark Valley Central School where she worked in the cafeteria for several years. She was also a member of the Berkshire Fire Department Auxiliary for over 40 years and a member of the Berkshire Sr. Citizens.

She is survived by her husband, Clayton "Buzz" Barrows, of Berkshire; and her children, Robert A. Foux of Susquehanna, PA and Jean (Charles) Underwood of Berkshire. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Margaret Bozijar of Niagara Falls, Edith Innes of Schenectady, Mary Jane Dixon of Great Bend, PA, and Bessie Collins of Red Bank, NJ.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Arthur John Foux, in 1967.

A memorial service will be held at the Berkshire Congregational Church on Sunday, December 19, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend James Willard officiating. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Barrows may be directed to the Berkshire Congregational Church, Route 38, Berkshire, NY 13736.
