Gary R. Loomis, Sr.

Gary R. Loomis, Sr., 58, of North Pharsalia, NY, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at his home, while surrounded by his family.

Gary was born in Oxford, NY, on March 3, 1959, the son of the late Robert and Eleanor Franklin Loomis.  He had served as a corrections officer for the Woodbourne Correctional Facility for almost 20 years, retiring on November 24, 2017.  Gary was a hard worker and had a passion for farming.  He had worked alongside his dad, until he passed away, on the family dairy farm and then ventured into raising beef cattle.  He also drove for Surge Farm Equipment and made many friends through his travel.  A loving, husband, father, and grandfather, he cherished his family deeply.

He is survived by his wife, Malinda Thompson Loomis; and his children, Danielle (Nicholas J. Beaubien) Loomis of RI, Gary (Katie) Loomis, Jr. of N. Pharsalia, and Lindsay Moore of Liverpool.  He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Ellie, Cohen, and Xavian; a brother, Jerry (Kathy) Loomis of N. Pharsalia; nieces, Erica (Robert) Guyer and Jessie (Jake DeRochie) Loomis; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandchild, Amari.

The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with Jeanne Angell officiating.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Gary may be made to Assistance in Health Care by visiting www.aih.org.
