Frederick L. Haven

Frederick L. Haven, 88, of (Solon) McGraw, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at his home.

Born in Solon, NY, Fred was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of McGraw High School.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1959.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #489, Cortland.  Prior to his retirement, he had worked at Smith-Corona and Valu Home Center, Cortland.  He had previously served as town supervisor, building code enforcement officer, and town justice for the Town of Solon.  Fred enjoyed the outdoors and was a member of the Solon Sportsmen Club.

He is survived by his sons, Tracy Haven and Patrick Haven, both of McGraw; a grandchild, Faith Arnold of Arizona, and sisters, June Harris of McGraw and Gladys White of Liverpool; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Alice Brown Haven, on April 29, 2014; a son, Frederick Haven II; and brothers, Richard, Frank, and Donald Haven.

A memorial service will be held at the McGraw United Methodist Church at a date and time to be announced.
