Frances E. Knapp, 85, of Pitcher, NY, lost her courageous battle with cancer on Monday, August 29, 2011, while surrounded by her family.
Frances was born in Triangle, NY on January 23, 1926, the oldest of seven children to the late Frank and Nettie Heath Mowry. Prior to her retirement, she was a Certified Nurse's Aide at Northwoods in Cortland for 30 years. A tireless worker and friend to many, she will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Ellison (Darla) Knapp of Cincinnatus, Harold (Kelly) Knapp of Marathon, Bryan (Kelly) Knapp of Cincinnatus, Tina (David) Peacock of Cortland, and Michael (Bridgette) Knapp of Cincinnatus. She also leaves behind her stepchildren, Patricia (Craig) Livingston of Groton and Richard W. (Kathleen) Knapp of South Carolina; a sister, Betty of Syracuse; a special niece, Elaine Knight of Cincinnatus; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Knapp, on July 13, 2008.
A memorial service will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Sunday, September 4, 2011, at 3:00 p.m., with Reverend Peter Bush officiating. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Knapp may be directed to the Taylor Wesleyan Church, 3279 State Route 26, Cincinnatus, NY 13040.
