Elizabeth A. Jewell

Elizabeth Amelia (Harvey) Jewell, 92, of Winston-Salem, NC and formerly of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2012, at her home, while surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Jewell was born in Pitcher, NY on November 12, 1919, a daughter of the late Ivan and Ruth Gardner Harvey.  On August 14, 1946, she married L. Douglas Jewell and for several years they made their home in Cincinnatus before moving to North Carolina to be closer to their family.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cincinnatus and a graduate of Baptist Bible Seminary, Johnson City.  For forty years her and her husband, who predeceased her on May 21, 2004, served as a missionaries for Chad and the Central African Republic.

She is survived by four sons, Paul (Sandra) Jewell of Syracuse, Roger (Sandra) Jewell of Factoryville, PA, Charles (Gai) Jewell of Bandui Central African Republic, and Daniel (Jeanette) Jewell of Winston-Salem, NC; and a daughter, Judith Jewell of Winston-Salem, NC.  She also leaves behind a brother, Lowell (Adah) Harvey of Ocala, FL; and her sisters, Mary (John) Davis and Ruth Esther (Dean) Delevan, all of Cincinnatus; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her brothers, Paul and Wendell Harvey; and a sister, Claudia Torrey.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Cincinnatus on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. with her son, Reverend Paul Jewell officiating.  Burial will be in Lower Cincinnatus Cemetery.  The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Jewell may be directed to Baptist Mid-Missions for Bangassou Clinic in the Central African Republic, 7749 Webster Road, Cleveland, OH 44130.
